Steel firm bolsters offering with factory purchase

Caldicot-based Pro Steel Engineering has purchased a factory in Pontypool and plans to recruit 50 new members of staff including skilled labour welders and fabricators.

The 25,000 square foot factory is close to the A4042 and M4 and will allow the firm to grow according to its ambitious order book with recent contract wins worth over £5m.

The new factory, purchased for £400,000, will offer a 24/7 working capability and have an output of up to 10,000 tonnes per year.

In recent years, the project management firm has added a fabrication arm to its services and secured a number of high-profile projects including the Twickenham East Stand Development, Heathrow Airport Bridge Trusses and Great Western Electrification.

As a result, Pro Steel has seen turnover increase by 500 per cent and is looking to grow even further and add exciting new projects to its roster.

Richard Selby, director of Pro Steel Engineering, said:

“The purchase of the factory and imminent recruitment of up to 50 additional engineering staff puts us in a very good position for the year.

“It’s been an incredibly busy time for Pro Steel namely with the Twickenham Stadium work and us making our name in new markets.

“Each of our team members brings a wealth of experience to the business, and continues to be essential to the company’s future and we look forward to growing accordingly.”
