Pro Steel’s top tips for delivering a last-minute job effectively

We were tasked with the assembly of six hinge brackets for steel railway posts on the east side of Newport station. This particular job required a very fast turnaround with the order placed on Monday 17th December and delivery on Friday the same week. The £21k project required a fully-galvanised system immediately prior to the shutdown which we were able to do.

The team led by Phil Davies worked hard to deliver a client’s request at short notice by successfully prioritising daily workloads in order to make it a reality. The team went above and beyond, even working overtime to achieve this tight timescale.

For others wondering whether or not to take on additional, last minute work here are Pro Steel’s top tips to making it achievable:

  • Don’t rush – review and take your time assessing the work content before committing to the customer as you don’t want to over-promise and under-deliver.
  • Keep the customer in close communication. They need regular updates to have the peace of mind the job will be completed as promised – and always be honest if there are genuine delays.
  • Do not compromise safety or quality in order to achieve the goal, it’s not worth it.
