PRO STEEL WELCOMES FOUNDATIONAL ECONOMY CHALLENGE PROJECT TRAINEES

We’re delighted to welcome  Torfaen residents Dan and Cecilio to the team this week as part of our L2 NVQ Fabrication & Welding project working with Torfaen Voluntary Alliance, Torfaen County Borough Council and Coleg Gwent. It’s a Welsh Government Foundational Economy Challenge project with a new approach to learning whilst working.

Dan and Cecilio will be with us for six months initially, and will be learning all aspects of fabrication and welding on-site with our experienced team members. It’s hoped that Dan and Cecilio will be able to weld and fabricate in a matter of months and be able to work on many of our live projects.

Director and co-founder Richard Selby said: “I’m thrilled to welcome them both to the team. They really stood out during the recruitment process to us and we look forward to seeing their professional journeys develop with us.

“I know the value of hard-working team members, and so if we are able to provide entry-level opportunities like this, we hope we can be in a position to offer more full-time roles once they’re qualified rather than having to look externally.

“A big thanks to the organisations like Torfaen County Borough Council, Coleg Gwent and Torfaen Voluntary Alliance for making this possible for us to coordinate and manage, and hopefully, this is the start of a long-term traineeship programme for us.”
