PRO STEEL ACHIEVES SILVER EMPLOYER RECOGNITION SCHEME (ERS) AWARD

We’re delighted to announce that Pro Steel is one of only 13 organisations in Wales to have achieved the Silver ERS Award 2020.

The prestigious Silver ERS Award made by the Ministry of Defence recognise employers who have actively demonstrated their support for the Armed Forces community through implementing practical policies in the workplace. The organisations that have achieved the award are:

Under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, employers support Defence personnel and encourage others to do the same. The scheme has three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold for organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support for Defence and the Armed Forces community. To achieve Silver, organisations must proactively demonstrate that the Armed Forces community are not unfairly disadvantaged as part of their recruitment policies. They must also actively ensure their workforce is aware of their positive policies towards Defence people issues for veterans, Reserves, Cadet Force Adult Volunteers, and spouses and partners of those serving in the Armed Forces.

Johnny Mercer, Minister for Defence People and Veterans said: “The breadth and diversity of the winners this year shows how business support for the Armed Forces continues to grow no matter the sector, company size or location. I am grateful for the positive attitude and flexible policies these organisations have adapted towards the defence community, which is testament to the fantastic contribution our serving personnel, veterans and their families can make to any organisation. I am delighted that so many companies are supporting our people and that, through this scheme, we can give them the public recognition they deserve.”

Audrey Nealon, Regional Employer Engagement Director for Wales said, “I am delighted that we can announce 13 Silver ERS 2020 award winners for Wales. I know all of these organisations have worked hard to support Defence objectives and they are all very worthy winners.

“These employers provide inspiration for others to follow in their footsteps. We’re delighted to see Welsh workplaces become more creative and flexible in their methods to support the Armed Forces. The strength of the ERS continues to grow and we warmly welcome new employers who wish to take their first step and pledge their support.”

Richard Selby, Managing Director of Pro Steel Engineering Limited said, “We are delighted to have been recognised with a Silver Award as part of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme. Working with the RFCA for Wales we have been able to implement policies and working practices to support veterans, families and reservists from the Armed Forces. From our experience employing staff with military experience has helped to strengthen our business and we hope this award helps to encourage veterans and reservists to continue to work with us in the future.”

2020 marks the seventh year of the award scheme and this year winners across the UK come from micro organisations or SMEs right up to large public organisations. This demonstrates both the growth in numbers and the depth of supportive employers who cover a wide range of sectors and company size. In addition to these Silver Award winners, Wales has nine Gold winners this year.

Mae hyn yn dynn ar sodlau cyhoeddi naw gwobr Aur ERS yn y rhanbarth.

Mae’r Wobr Arian ERS arbennig sy’n cael ei chyflwyno gan y Weinyddiaeth Amddiffyn yn cydnabod cyflogwyr sydd wedi dangos eu cefnogaeth i gymuned y Lluoedd Arfog trwy weithredu polisïau ymarferol yn y gweithle. Y sefydliadau sydd wedi ennill y wobr yw:

I ennill y wobr Arian, rhaid i sefydliadau ddangos yn rhagweithiol nad yw cymuned y Lluoedd Arfog dan anfantais annheg fel rhan o’u polisïau recriwtio. Hefyd, rhaid iddynt fynd ati i sicrhau bod eu gweithlu’n ymwybodol o’u polisïau cadarnhaol tuag at faterion pobl ym maes Amddiffyn o safbwynt cyn-filwyr, Lluoedd Wrth Gefn, Gwirfoddolwyr sy’n Oedolion gyda’r Cadetiaid, a gwŷr a gwragedd priod a phartneriaid y rhai sy’n gwasanaethu yn y Lluoedd Arfog.

Dywedodd Johnny Mercer, y Gweinidog dros Gyn-filwyr a Phersonél Amddiffyn:

“Mae ehangder ac amrywiaeth y rhai a ddaeth i’r brig eleni yn dangos sut mae cefnogaeth gan fyd busnes i’r Lluoedd Arfog yn parhau i dyfu waeth beth yw’r sector, maint y cwmni na’r lleoliad. Rwy’n ddiolchgar am yr agwedd gadarnhaol a’r polisïau hyblyg y mae’r sefydliadau hyn wedi eu haddasu ar gyfer y gymuned amddiffyn, ac mae hyn yn tystio i’r cyfraniad gwych y gall ein personél sy’n gwasanaethu, ein cyn-filwyr a’u teuluoedd ei wneud i unrhyw sefydliad. Rwy’n falch iawn bod cymaint o gwmnïau’n cefnogi ein pobl ac y gallwn, drwy’r cynllun hwn, roi’r gydnabyddiaeth gyhoeddus y maent yn ei haeddu iddynt.”

Rwy’n gwybod bod pob un o’r sefydliadau hyn wedi gweithio’n galed i gefnogi amcanion Amddiffyn ac maen nhw i gyd yn enillwyr teilwng iawn.

Mae’r cyflogwyr hyn yn ysbrydoli eraill i ddilyn ôl eu traed. Rydym yn falch iawn o weld gweithleoedd Cymru yn dod yn fwy creadigol a hyblyg yn eu dulliau o gefnogi’r Lluoedd Arfog. Mae’r ERS yn mynd o nerth i nerth ac rydym yn rhoi croeso cynnes i gyflogwyr newydd sydd am gymryd eu cam cyntaf ac addo eu cefnogaeth. ”

Meddai Richard Selby, Rheolwr Gyfarwyddwr Pro Steel Engineering Limited, “Rydym yn falch iawn ein bod wedi cael ein cydnabod gyda Gwobr Arian fel rhan o Gynllun Cydnabod Cyflogwr y Lluoedd Arfog. Trwy gydweithio â Chymdeithas Lluoedd wrth Gefn a Chadetiaid Cymru rydym wedi llwyddo i weithredu polisïau ac arferion gwaith i gefnogi cyn-filwyr, teuluoedd a milwyr wrth gefn o’r Lluoedd Arfog. O’n profiad ni mae cyflogi staff sydd â phrofiad milwrol wedi helpu i gryfhau ein busnes a gobeithiwn y bydd y wobr hon yn helpu i annog cyn-filwyr a milwyr wrth gefn i barhau i weithio gyda ni yn y dyfodol. ”

2020 yw’r seithfed tro inni gynnal y cynllun gwobrwyo, ac eleni daw’r enillwyr o sefydliadau micro neu BBaCHau yn ogystal â sefydliadau cyhoeddus mawr o bob cwr o’r DU. Mae hyn yn dangos y twf mewn niferoedd ac ehangder y cyflogwyr cefnogol sy’n cwmpasu sectorau a chwmnïau o bob math. Yn ogystal ag enillwyr y Gwobrau Arian, mae gan Gymru naw enillydd Aur eleni.
